Brad’s resume stands on its own even
though he was the designated catcher for Joe Wedeking, his brother and HOF
pitcher, for their entire careers.
In 1986, Brad joined Waterloo Turf
Control. In the 32 team Midwest Classic in Fort Dodge, Brad was an important
member of the Championship team. Later that year, Brad helped Turf Control finish
5th out of the 12 teams entered and qualified for the Major Regional
in Omaha.
In 1987, Brad help Waterloo Universal
Financial win their first ISC State Championship and earn a spot in the ISC
World Tournament in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
In 1988, Brad caught is brother Joe
and won their second ISC State Tournament. At the ISC World in Decatur, Brad
help Waterloo upset the former National Champion Seattle Pay N Pak 2-1.
Brad played part time with Kent Feed
in 1989 in tournaments and in the ISC Travel League.
In 1990, Brad went back home to play
for Clarksville and helped win the Class A State.
In 1995, Brad helped the Waverly NC+
Hybrids to a second-place finish in the Class A State.
In 1996, Brad was an important part
of the Waverly NC+ Hybrids fourth place in the Major State.
Brad was a remarkable defensive catcher.
During the years he caught his brother, he never gave Joe signs. Joe would
throw any pitch he wanted at any count and Brad would catch it!
Brad continued to play competitive fastpitch
softball through the 2019 season. He was a lifetime .300 hitter and he was the
catcher for one of the best pitchers in the Iowa Men’s Fastpitch Softball Hall
of Fame.
